Disparities Justice Health Related Issues Newsletter Funding Calendar

The mission of the Environmental Justice and Health Union is to identify tools to help environmental justice activists and environmental health professionals work together to stop environmental disease in poor minority communities in the United States. Both groups seek to stop environmental disease in such communities. A lack of trust and knowledge often hinders such efforts. The Environmental Justice and Health Union provides tools to overcome these barriers in the belief that to eliminate the problem, we must create better solutions together.

Tools the EJHU uses to build trust and knowledge include the following:

  1. Discrimination and Disease - Outline how discrimination promotes environmental illness in poor minority communities
  2. Disease Data - Review data collected by the U.S. government that indicates poor minority communities are at greater risk for asthma, lead poisoning, and other environmental diseases
  3. Reformers - The environmental justice movement and the environmental health profession seeks to eliminate disparities
  4. Current Influences - Provide information on training, policy, and research that influences the activities of environmental justice activists and environmental health professionals
  5. Calendar - The events and funding calendar focuses on action supporting partnerships between environmental justice and environmental health groups
  6. Newsletter - The Environmental Justice and Health Union newsletter,Catalyst, contains up-to-date information on environmental justice and environmental health.
  7. Membership - Members of the Environmental Justice and Health Union may submit information for inclusion in the Catalyst and website updates

The Environmental Justice and Health Union, however, is only effective if the tools we provide are appropriate and are used. To help them be used, the Environmental Justice and Health Union provides Technical Tips that explain how groups can get free computers and e-mail, what free software is needed to review some government reports, and free services that translate the website into other languages.

For us to support you, we need your support.

Send us your thoughts on what tools you need, what information we provide that you do and don't find useful. Become a member of the Environmental Justice and Health Union. Donations supporting Environmental Justice and Health Union activities are also greatly appreciated.
