Highly exposed subpopulations

Thirteen chemicals are identified in the National Report where one racial group had the highest geometric mean, but another had the highest level at the 95th percentile. Such finding suggest that a subpopulation of the racial group with the highest level at the 95th percentile is exposed to the chemical in a manner significantly different from the other members of the racial group. In eight out of the thirteen chemicals, Whites had the highest geometric mean but Blacks or Mexican-Americans had the highest level at the 95th percentile.

Among the chemicals detected at the 95th percentile, but not in a sufficient proportion of the population to develop a geometric mean, 24 chemicals are detected at the highest level in Blacks, 11 chemicals are detected at the highest level in Mexican-Americans and 8 chemicals are detected at the highest level in Whites.
